Lyrics by
Corwin Zekley 2014

Heart Attack

You tied me in a string of lies
And put a knife in my back
You laughed as you watched me die
Then said it was a heart attack

You let me go and watched me fall
And everything went black
Then you gave the cops a call
and said it was a heart attack

Prechorus:
And by the time the ambulance had neared
You'd already disappeared
But if you had been here you would have

Chorus:
Said it was a heart attack
You said it was a heart attack
You hurt me hit me cut me bit me
and said it was a heart attack
You said it was a heart attack
You said it was a heart attack
you'd break me miss me stake me kiss
then say, say it was a heart attack

You'd draw a line with charcoal
And away you'd hack
Try to amputate my soul
Then say it was a heart attack

You took aim with your pistol
and you let it crack
But all you did was hit the hole
You'd cut out with your axe

And by the time the ambulance had neared
You'd already disappeared
But if you had been here you would have

Chorus

What Was Never True

C:
Were you the victim
Were you the
Witness on love's behalf

G:
Were you the killer
Were you the
Joker cracking hearts for a laugh

C:You were the girl I wanted
G:You were the man I faulted
B:For the troubles I've been through

B:
Were we the losers
Were we the
Ones who'd lost our crowns

Were we abusers
Were we the
Ones who'd make the cats clowns

C:You were the girl I wanted
G:You were the man I faulted
B:For the troubles I've been through

Chrous:
C:The night is young but you've played all your cards
Your hand could've won if you'd picked up the shards
Don't make a bet on a heart you once knew

G:
Placing your hope on foolish gambles
You can't raise a love from a love in shambles
B:You can't raise a truth from what was never true

G:Were you the poison
Were you the
Venom that tasted so nice

C:Were you the martyr
Were you the
One I wish I could hang twice

You were the girl I wanted
You were the man I faulted
For the troubles I've been through

Chorus

B: Were we ordained
Were we the
Ones destined to clash

Were we chained
Were we the
Ones who couldn't stop till we crash

You were the girl I wanted
You were the man I faulted
For the troubles I've been through

Chorus

Far From Your Shores

You showed me no grace
Your allures
Your contours
Now a photo of your face
The girl I once knew
She withdrew
with no steps
to retrace

Our hands once entwined
Your attire
Your desire
Now a hope that's resigned
She left with no goodbye
Now I sigh
why'd she fly
my embrace

Chorus:
But that wisp of love
Hover hovering above
Was nothing that you couldn't ignore
And the weak thing I've become
wither withering succumbs
To the waves far from your shores

I saw our descent
Your disguise
Your surprise
At love turned to cement
All we did was collide
I just tried
You just lied
Now we're spent

Last May I regret
Your affair
Your despair
And our dangerous duet
All I did was await
For the date
That our hate
Would relent

Chorus

Blade's Kiss

There's fresh blood in the grass
He'd been here before
A life now dust and glass
On the reaper's floor
Does it give him sweet delight
To dish out justice?
When he comes in the night
You will feel his blade's kiss
And when he holds his sword
Does he wear a grin?
Does he thank the lord
For all his sin?
The black dog caught the scent
and lead you to the field
To find the well dressed gent
Who's body'd been concealed
Does it give him sweet delight
To dish out justice?
When he comes in the night
You will feel his blade's kiss
And when he holds his sword
Does he wear a grin?
Does he thank the lord
For all his sin?
Take a sip of wine
for soon you will be slain
A splatter of sanguine
on a window pane
Does it give him sweet delight
To dish out justice?
When he comes in the night
You will feel his blade's kiss
And when he holds his sword
Does he wear a grin?
Does he thank the lord
For all his sin?

Daniel

A coronet of dewdrops
glistened in her hair
as the sun climbed the trees
and you halted to stare

She looked so alone
like you felt at the dance
you'd never seen Hana like this
and you slipped from your trance
-and she said-

Chorus:
What do you see
Why did you follow me Daniel
I left him
I don't want you to
Come/to/me
cuz you cannot understand
you know nothing your words are sand
so go back to her
and leave me here
-and-

She fell into your arms
And she started to cry
He had left her before dawn
Without even a goodbye

Your arms clasped Hana's shoulders
And you tried to pretend
you said it'll be alright
But she knew you couldn't comprehend

Chorus

Hana ran from you
into the forest
and you followed her
into the darkness

You called to her
but towards the river you both sped
and you were just a bit too slow
and only her shoes were left by the river bed

And to this day
Daniel still talks of her
she drowned in the river
and he was never quite sure

Could of he reached out
Could of he grabbed for her hand
Could of he set things all right
But not all things can be so grand

-And she says-
What did you see
Why did you follow me Daniel
I left him
I didn't want you to
Come/to/me
cuz you couldn't understand
So I jumped in the river now my bodies in the sand
so go back to her
and forget about me (me descending to resolve on the 1)

The Pleasure Of Doing You Wrong

I'll miss your plastic smile
took to the flames
left me so beguiled
Now it's melted away
And what was left beneath
was wax and teeth
at the end of the day

You shouldn't have believed
The words I spoke
The lies you received
The truths I choked
Your tender tinder heart
was struck and sparked
and went up in smoke

Chorus:
But those days I recall
Were the best I had drawn
And at Autumn's fall
I had the pleasure of doing you wrong

I'll show you that I care
caress your bare skin
Come get a breath of air
So I can drown you again
I'll even up the score
This isn't a war
But watch me win

Was I the tranquil sea?
That your boat missed
The storms you'd flee
But I'm the tempest
How do you show your love?
I kill a dove
With a kiss

Chorus

Eye To Eye

Every day she'd try to be kind See eye to eye In a world that's gone blind Try to be part of the machine and forget it's a guillotine

She remembered her father with an old photograph Never spoke with her mother on his behalf Without family or friends she'd sleep in the neighbor's shed and pretend it's not her deathbed

Chorus: But the man she loves Gave her a locket A picture of him She keeps in her pocket Wonders if he'll come back for her to settle the score Or if her diamond ring was stolen by the war

He was drafted on their wedding day Now a month later he's far away Expecting a letter but she is not concerned Yet she knows that he won't return

She'd remember the garden Where they first made love Under the trees with the stars above She sits there again but now it's overgrown and imagines she's not alone

Chorus

Where Once I Danced

Verse:
There was a party where we'd meet
Each Friday night down lincoln street
and we'd burn the night away
and as we'd turn the band would play

The stars above the parapet
Where we made love the night we met
Just burnt debris still lingers there
If only we had said a prayer.

Prechorus:
Then maybe an angel would have come to save
Then you'd be in my arms not in the grave

Chorus:
Knew your visage Once knew romance
Now a mirage in the distance
and the barrage of memories
Where once I danced I'm on my knees

It was a normal Friday night
We met as usual at last light
Strangers kissed and joined the game
They saw no risk they saw no flame

Somebody dropped a cigarette
And fire shot cross the carpet.
and when I saw it come I ran
if you weren't too drunk to take my hand

Prechorus:
Then maybe an angel would have come to save
Then you'd be in my arms not in the grave

Chorus:
Knew your visage Once knew romance
Now a mirage in the distance
and the barrage of memories
Where I once danced I'm on my knees

Enough Of A Man

I thought the day would never come
I thought that things would last
The only one I gave my heart
Who was my future is now my past
I made my fair share of mistakes
she forgave me through and through
and She told me everything
Said I was sensitive and true

So I ask you please what made her leave
and wonder why she left my hand
but know too wellI Im not enough of a man

Look again where I'd look for clues
recount the lies that I counted truths
Stand alone in the place we stood
She didn't leave me because she could
Ask myself why do I dwell
and remember why she ran
A secret I know all too well
I'm just not enough of a man
Beneath the clothes she left behind
In a box under the stairs
A future that I'll never find
A diamond ring she'll never wear
Sifting through things that were her's
Trying to pretend
But it fell through my fingers
And blew away like sand

So I ask you when She'll come back again
and wonder why she left my hand
but know too wellI Im not enough of a man

Look again where I'd look for clues
recount the lies that I counted truths
Stand alone in the place we stood
She didn't leave me because she could
Ask myself why do I dwell
and remember why she ran
A secret I know all too well
I'm just not enough of a man

Look again where I'd been before
Try to hear that ancient score
See the lovers walking by
It's only harder if I try
Ask myself why do I dwell
and remember why she ran
A secret I know all too well
I'm just not enough of a man

With The Storm

All that remains
Is A crystallized replica of reality
The world turned to a fragility
and nothing is the same
It's all sinking
These concrete gardens now Atlantis(ees)
Your hopes are now fantasies
Your heart just a blood stain

Chorus: One tap and it'll be shattered
God must have thought it mattered
But with the storm comes change

The stories you never believed them
When the seas rise around you
You will know that they were true
And you've only yourself to blame
The deluge had come
And you were petrified
When you were ostracized
Upon the flood plain

Chorus

And the ark sails across the tranquil sea
You think how could they leave me
Denial's just one of my idiosyncrasies
If only I was as waterproof as cellophane, but I'm not
